A humanistic approach to games preservation

The Gamer Inside is an independant transmedia documentary project about the impact of videogames in the society. The idea departed from one person, Jesús Fabre, who decided to create a platform to gather and divulgate the testimonies of all kinds of people around the world about their lives and their relation with games (mainly digital, but also analogic ones). Since December 2010 he has built an archive of more than 450 hours of conversations with 310 people from 21 countries, aged from 5 to 90 years old, ordinary gamers, indie developers, researchers, artists, school teachers, and even non gamers. The goal is to create a worldwide curated video-archive with educational purposes. Jesús will tell us about the importance of preserving, not only the games, also the experiences of gamers and their culture. He will also talk about the kind of conceptual, moral and technical issues he encountered after 16 months working for the project, and the solutions he found.
