Title Panoramical Genre Musical Landscape

Description Panoramical is an interactive musical landscape controlled with a repurposed DJ device. Players alter the scene with sliders and knobs, gradually changing the world's shapes and sounds. Every combination produce a different environment and musical soundscape that is generated on the fly. It is an exploration digital toy where players can explore, fiddle and immerse themselves in the changing environments.

Players watch a moving abstract landscape with dynamic music and control knobs and sliders to introduce new elements to the landscape that also change the music. By playing and fiddling with the various combinations, players immerse themselves and explore the space of possibilities. The piece is designed around a Korg Nanokontrol controller, that consists of an array of knobs and sliders. The physicality of the control is an important aspect of the experience, as it allows players to focus on the screen and not in the input: one can touch the control and know how each piece moves without thinking about it.

It can also be played using a custom-made iPad remote control App, using touch controls to interact with the piece in various ways. With it, players move dots on the screen, where each dot's position correspond to a parameter in the game. The app communicates wirelessly to the software.

Panoramical was shown at international festivals like IndieCade in Los Angeles, Gamecity UK in Nottingham, Prince Of Arcade in Montreal, VERSUS in Rotterdam and Indiecade East in New York. It's been described by atendees as "beautiful, audiosculptural" and an "emotionally powerful audience experience".
